Wilbers two stage springs with rates of 5.5 N/mm to 6.5 N/mm. The stock fork springs are 5.0 N/mm and notoriously too soft. The 10% initial increase in rate is stiffer than stock but still provides good compliance while the second rate is effective in resisting bottom-out and reducing nosedive. This is very advantageous in a long travel telescopic fork especially when there are no compresson adjusters. For more aggressive off road riding see our Yacugar spring option which is 5.5 N/mm to 9.0 N/mm.
Don’t forget the Fork Oil! You will need 2 Liters of 7wt or 10wt for these springs.
Please note:
7wt oil is recommended for general purpose and for more dirt road riding.
10wt oil is recommended for sport-oriented street riding.
Air chamber is 150mm with springs removed and forks completely compressed.
Instructions for setting air chamber:
1) Remove fork spring and drain old oil.
2) Compress fork fully with spring removed.
3) Add oil until oil level is the prescribed distance from the top of the tube – this is your air chamber.
Piston rods should be pumped several times to dispel any remaining air before final measurement is made.
